Environmental Monitoring

Soil remediation

Globally environmental monitoring in increasing in all areas, i.e. air quality, soil remediation, Restriction of Hazardous Substances (RoHS), plastics recycling and  waste oils. Oxford Instruments are at the forefront with a wide range of instrumentation to suit all situations.

Based on the well respected analytical technique of X-ray Fluorescence (XRF), a range of analysers from portable to mobile to laboratory, cover all stages of environmental monitoring allowing cost optimisation to be realised at every stage.

The X-MET5000 and X-MET5100 both are rugged handheld portable XRF analysers measuring the key environmental elements in soil such as Lead, Chrome, Copper, Arsenic, Zinc etc. A rapid on-site analysis allows potentially contaminated land to be quickly screened so that the correct and most cost effective disposal route can be chosen. In comparison to conventional laboratory analysis significant cost savings can be realised by not having to wait for laboratory results before action can be taken.

The X-Supreme8000 is a benchtop multi-element analyser typically measuring sulphur, chlorine, and a range of transition elements such as copper, zinc etc in waste oils. The sample is normally measured “as-received”, and providing the elements are below prescribed limits the oil can  be used as an “alternative fuel” thereby saving cost.  The X-Supreme includes a 10 position sample carousel for multi-sample analysis, and an integrated PC for storage of results, etc.

For the electronics manufacturing industry the X-Strata980 offers simple and reliable RoHS testing and compliance. The integrated camera allows small spot analysis to be performed with ease confirming products are manufactured to be RoHS compliant. In addition the instrument conforms to a number of recognised standards including ISO 3497, ASTM B568, DIN 50987 and IEC62321.
