Manufacturing and repairing aircrafts

Within the aerospace industry and in particular the manufacture and repair of aircraft it is paramount that all materials and processes are regularly monitored to meet the highest standards of safety and control. One well established analytical technique used throughout the industry is analysis by X-ray fluorescence (XRF) offering a range of benefits including simple, accurate rapid, traceable analysis leading to improved quality assurance and cost savings throughout the process.

X-MET5000 hand-held XRF analyser is the ideal point-and-shoot tool for wide ranging aerospace applications where material verification is to be conducted.

X-MET5100 hand-held XRF analyser takes the analytical performance of XRF to a completely new level. The combination of a groundbreaking Silicon Drift Detector (SDD) and powerful 45kV X-ray tube enable the analysis of light elements, such as Mg, AI and Si without the need for complex vacuum or helium attachments. Aluminium can be analysed  from Ni alloys and from Ti alloys as well as many 2000 series aerospace Al -alloys can now reliably be identified because of the capability to analyse Mg as well.

Oxford Instruments is proud to launch a NEW faster, lighter and smaller handheld XRF analyser -
the X-MET7000. With one pull of the trigger, the NEW X-MET7000 delivers faster than ever results for materials analysis, verification and screening. Take a closer look at the NEW

PMI–MASTER PRO is a mobile Optical Emission analyser with a high measurement capacity of metallic material, especially when Carbon, Magnesium, Aluminium or Silicon need to be detected.  This analyser is highly robust for all day use, 365 days a year operation and is ideal for incoming inspection of raw material.

Polymers are widely used throughout the aerospace and aviation industries. For example, aircraft fuel tank sealants. In this application manganese dioxide is often used as a curing agent and it is important to monitor and control the concentration of manganese in the sealant to ensure the correct properties. The X-Supreme8000 is a simple to use benchtop multi-element analyser used to accurately measure the manganese content. The sample is simply poured into a sample cell, the cell is placed in the instrument and measured. Results are available in minutes.
The X-Supreme8000 includes a 10 position sample carousel for multi-sample analysis, and an integrated PC for precise instrument control, storage of results and flexible reporting.
