MARAN-iP is equipped with a USP-4 flow cell that is positioned in the active imaging area of the magnet (click on diagram to see enlarged version) and is large enough to accommodate most dosage forms.
The dissolution sample is easily loaded into the flow cell and held in place with sample holders. The dissolution media is pumped through the cell with user selectable flow rates of up to 50ml/minute and can either be an open or closed loop configuration as required.
The user then acquires images either at fixed time points or accumulates data to suit the dissolution of that particular dosage form. The images are updated on the screen allowing monitoring of the dissolution process. Optionally, to enhance further information content obtained from the MRI, conventional UV/Vis spectroscopy data can be acquired with the image data. See graph. The flexibility of the instrument in conjunction with USP-4 compatible flow apparatus provides valuable incremental information across a wide range of drug formulation types.
