Oxford Instruments welcomes Royal visitor
Oxford Instruments Plasma Technology was pleased to welcome His Royal Highness the Duke of Kent on a visit to its factory in Yatton, Bristol, UK on Tuesday 19th April. During his visit, His Royal Highness met staff involved in the company’s new product and process development, and toured the manufacturing area and the Applications Laboratory cleanroom before meeting several more employees over lunch. He was accompanied on the tour by Lady Gass, Lord Lieutenant of Somerset, the Chief Executive of Oxford Instruments plc, Jonathan Flint, and the Managing Director of Oxford Instruments Plasma Technology, Dr Jim Hutchins.
“It was a great success, and we were honoured by the deep interest shown by His Royal Highness in all the aspects of the company he saw. The visit was a great tribute to the teamwork and dedication of our employees,” said Dr Hutchins.
The royal visit was in recognition of the Queen’s Award for Enterprise made to the company in 2003. The Queen’s Awards are a prestigious recognition of excellence in UK industry; this was the second such Award made to the Plasma Technology business in the International Trade category, and one of many received by the Oxford Instruments group of companies.
