MAXXI 6 Coating Thickness XRF Analyzer for Quality Inspection

XRF Coating thickness measurement is a widely accepted and industry-proven analytical technique, offering easy to use, fast and non-destructive analysis, requiring little to no sample preparation, capable of analyzing solids or liquids over a wide element range from 13Al to 92U.

With superior resolution and high efficiency SDD, the MAXXI 6 is the ideal instrument for measuring the thinnest coatings down to nanometer scale and element composition at trace level.

Key features

  • Superior resolution Silicon drift detector (SDD) offers optimal efficiency at all energy levels with energy resolution up to 140eV
  • Collimator changer offers 8 exchangeable collimators to cover every application need
  • Giant slotted chamber for a big variety of standard and oversized samples
  • The “USB easy choice” allows operation using a standard computer through USB connection with no additional hardware or firmware
  • Intuitive WindowsTM 7 based MaxxControl software provides choice of empirical calibration for highest accuracy and FP model for ease of use
  • Unlimited selection of elements and layer structure for thickness and composition analysis

Four new gauges for coating thickness quality assurance and inspection

The CMI155, CMI157, CMI255 and CMI257 feature dual technology probes (magnetic induction and eddy current) that automatically detect the substrate material and select the most appropriate measurement technique.

These metal finishing gauges are designed for testing a wide range of coatings using a single instrument:

  • Paint
  • Primer
  • Epoxy
  • Rubber
  • Polymers
  • Chrome
  • Zinc
  • Total coating thickness (eg. zinc + paint + primer on steel)

These new gauges complement our extensive line of metal finishing gauges, including the handheld CMI233 and CMI243 gauges, as well as the CMI730 benchtop system. Used on their own or in combination with our benchtop and handheld XRF products, Oxford Instruments products ensure that paint and powder coaters, electroplaters and galvanizers have the tools they need to be successful, where every mil or micron counts.
