Fast, high quality, material testing and verification is an essential part of the automotive industry today with advanced materials and stringent regulations, such as ELV compliance (End of Life Vehicles), place ever greater demands on the car manufacturing industry and its production processes.
 
The large volumes of vehicle production requires materials testing to be a highly accurate process conducted in just seconds. Supported by a network of subcontractors, who operate at all levels within manufacturing process, the automotive industry is under constant pressure to lower costs. The network, now very much a global supply chain, seeks to make cost and efficiency savings through improved materials verification.
 

Based on X-Ray Fluorescence (XRF), Optical Emission Spectroscopy (OES) and Magnetic Induction or Eddy Current technology, our instruments offer solutions for a broad range of material testing and verification applications in the automotive industry:
 

  • Metallic Coating Analysis - The X-Strata Series provide accurate analysis of the elements present in the coatings
  • Decorative Finishing - The X-Strata Series test the quality and thickness of chrome plating on Nickel in automotive trims
  • High Speed Drill Tools - The X-Strata Series analyse titanium on steel coating in cases of wear resistance
  • Positive Material Identification - This can be done effectively by the X-MET7000 Series TEST-MASTER Pro, these are handheld analysers based on XRF and OES techniques respectively
  • Metal and Alloy Analysis including light elements - The portable XRF and OES analysers: X-MET7000 Series and TEST-MASTER Pro help in analysing elements like Mg, Al and Si while Carbon can be analysed by the TEST-MASTER Pro.
  • ELV - Restricted elements like Cd, Pb, Hg, Cl, Cr and Br can be rapidly and accurately analysed with the X-MET7000 Series
  • Body Damage – Analysis of paint to match colour, measure consistency and adequacy of thickness of paint coats through Magnetic Induction or Eddy Current technology can be done with the help of contact gauges like CMI153, CMI233 and CMI250
  • Rubber Seals – The quality control of Silicon (Si) coating thickness and indirect determination of organic coating thickness through sulphur (S) analysis is done with the help of the robust, time tested Lab-X3500
