Fourier Transform Infrared (FTIR) and IR Spectroscopy

Fourier Transform Infra-Red (FTIR) and Infra-red spectroscopy is commonly used to study normal modes of vibration of molecules and crystal lattices which gives information on the chemical structure of materials including liquids and solids.
By cooling down samples, spectral lines become sharper and stronger, allowing more structure to be revealed. See example below

We have a wide range of optical cryostats to choose from but for FTIR/IR applications the most suitable cryostats are the ones with sample in exchange gas as they enable quick sample change and maximise sample throughput. You can typically change samples in less than 5 minutes via a top-loading probe so you don't need to remove the cryostat from the spectrometer to change samples. The cryostats are also extremely compact and can be integrated in the most spectrometers.

Sample holders and rods:

We offer sample rods which allow for the precise alignment of your sample to the beam.
For example the precise height and adjust rotate sample rod provides heigth adjust with a resolution of 10 µm and a goniometer for setting the rotation angle with a resolution of 12 minutes.



We also offer a wide range of sample holder including liquid cuvette to study liquid samples.
 

Optical windows

We offer optical windows suitable for IR and FTIR applications including ZnSe, polyethene, polypropylene, sapphire and Diamond.
