Low Temperature Scanning Probe Microscopy (SPM), Scanning Tunneling Microscopy (STM) and Atomic Force Microscopy (AFM)
Low temperature SPM, STM and AFM are very sensitive applications which require extremely low level of vibrations.
Some of our cryostats have been used for these applications and the range goes from 1. 6 K cryostat to 10 mK dilution refrigerators.
1.6 K low vibration helium bath cryostat
The OptistatSXM is specifically designed for sensitive applications. It offers a low base temperature (1.6 K), low levels of vibration (no nitrogen shield) and fast sample change.
Its large sample space (49 mm) enables the integration of probe heads.
Our range of Ultra-Low-Temperature inserts with sample in vacuum can be used for SPM,AFM,STM applications.This includes our range of wet dilution refrigerator (KelvinoxMX, KelvinoxHA) and wet helium 3 refrigerator (HelioxVL).
Recently we have demonstrated, in collaboration with Attocube and Nanomagnetics Instruments Ltd, that our range of dry or cryogen-free dilution refrigerators could be used for SPM applications as well. The system can achieved down to 10 mK.
