Cryopumps and helium compressors are used extensively to provide high and ultra-high vacuums.
Ultra high vacuum cryopumps offer an inherently clean, oil free high vacuum environment. Oxford Instruments Austin cryopumps present no risk of back-streaming and subsequent contamination, and offer extremely high pumping speeds that allow you to maintain the necessary vacuum during process.
Oxford Instruments Austin helium compressors provide a proven and reliable continuous source of high purity helium. Available in high voltage, low voltage, water, and air cooled variants; our helium compressors serve as the central source of ultra high purity helium gas in a closed cycle system.

In response to increasing customer demands, Oxford Instruments NanoScience has expanded a clean assembly area within its factory. It allows very clean construction of superconducting magnets, dilution refrigerators and 3He inserts (helium cooled or cryogen-free) which can work in a Ultra High Vacuum (UHV) environment (10-9 mbar or better).
We have delivered in the last couple of years ten highly complex systems including a combination of vector rotate, high field solenoids (14 T) and split pair magnets integrated with Cryofree and wet dilution refrigerators and 3He inserts.
We have developed a cryogen-free Triton dilution refrigerator specifically designed for Ultra-High-Vacuum experiments.
State-of-the art 14 T UHV recondensing X-ray magnet system:
We have recently installed the system on the I10 Beamline for Advanced Dichroism Experiments (BLADE) at Diamond Light Source, the UK’s national synchrotron facility.
The system is fully UHV compatible and designed to be baked to 80 °C and achieved 1 x 10-10 mbar when cold. Includes a UHV Variable Temperature Insert operating from 2 K to 420 K.
