SIEMENS Customer Safety Advisory Notice
07 November 2016

Dear Valued Oxford Instruments Healthcare Customer,

SIEMENS has announced an advisory that may include your SIEMENS system.  Please see the safety advisory below and the recommended action.

FDA Customer Advisory Some reports show that patients’ hair is being caught in the e.cam and Symbia E patient bed up/down drive.
Action

SIEMENS has instructed customers to do the following: 1) Do not leave the patient unattended at any time while he/she is positioned on the patient handling system (PHS); 2) When moving any components of the system, all areas should be checked to ensure that there are no obstacles in the path of motion; 3) Review the “safety” sections of the user manual with your staff; 4) Report any adverse events or quality problems with your system to Oxford Instruments.

Although the current bed design meets industry standards and specifications, SIEMENS has designed an enhancement kit to further reduce the gap in the patient bed up/down.  SIEMENS e.cam and Symbia E users will receive this enhancement, and you will be contacted to schedule this service.

OI’s 24 hour service number is 888-673-5151.

If you have any questions or concerns please feel free to contact me directly.

Sincerely,

Jeff Fall
President
