Integrated cryogen free superconducting magnets for the new 2016 TritonOxford Instruments is the only company able to offer in-house design, manufacturing and support of both the dilution refrigerator and the superconducting magnet, giving you access to unique service and support capabilities of all aspects of the system. 

  • A wide range of standard Cryofree solenoid magnets from 0.3 T to 14 T (up to 18 T on the TritonXL platform), with magnet bore sizes ranging from 57 to 200 mm to suit bottom- or top-loading sample pucks or a wide range of other sample arrangements 
  • Multi-axis vector magnets, including our leading 6/1/1 T, 90 mm bore design 
  • Both split pairs and multi-axis vector magnets with optical access

Mercury superconducting magnet power supplies

The MercuryiPS is our industry-leading superconducting magnet power supply, offering a reliable, high precision and high stability solution for all superconducting magnets. These multi-configurable, expandable power supplies feature a 60 A master unit with touch screen control interface, combined with one or more 60 A slave units to provide higher currents and multiple outputs for 2 and 3 axis vector magnets. The MercuryiPS includes built-in functionality for persistent mode control, magnet temperature interlocks, quench protection and remote control via TCP/IP, USB, GPIB (with optional card) and serial ports.

A wide range of standard and customised window configurations for detector applications has been developed for Triton.

A selection of cold and warm window materials with appropriate stress relief mounts to cope with thermal contraction are available, including Spectrosil B, Spectrosil WF, Sapphire, Quartz, Polypropylene and Mylar.

 

 

 

 

Wiring capabilities for Triton

One of the advantages of dry dilution refriegrators over wet dilution refrigerators is that there is more space available for customer wiring. The Triton offers 3 line of sight ports for high frequency coaxial lines or other custom services and 3 non-line of sight ports giving access for a variety of flexible wiring options.

Line of sight services

The three line of sight ports available for high frequency coaxial lines or other custom services can be configured as two off KF40 and one off KF50 vacuum fittings, fully termintated for high frequency applications or blanked for customer fittings. In addition, a 65 mm central access LOS port is available for top loading sample access.

Weak phonon-electron interactions at low temperatures make electron system cooling problematic in many applications. Fast pulse sequences for signal control is necessary in many areas of modern physics with corresponding high bandwidth wiring required. When working in the GHz frequency range, it is important to filter background blackbody radiation in the lines before it reaches the sample. Working with many of our customers, we have developed extensive high frequency wiring options with signal attenuation and heatsinking, to minimise electron temperatures on the sample or device.

Triton cryogen free dilution refrigerators are software controlled via a high quality PC running Windows10, providing system automation of refrigerator routines and programmable temperature/field sequences.

System automation

  • Fully automatic cool-down/warm-up routines

  • Sample change wizard for systems with bottom- or top-loading sample exchange load-locks

Configuration and optional system upgrades for Triton

Heat pipes for accelerated cooling of magnets

At least 30% reduction in cool down time (with a 12 T or larger magnet) can be achieved using heat pipes. This patented solution use heat pipes to connect the magnet directly with the first stage of the pulse-tube during the cool down phase. The operation is self-regulating and automatic, without any need of additional electronics, software or user intervention. Actual reduction in cool down time depends on the type of magnet, please enquire for details.

UPS

Our UPS option is integrated with the Triton control software that ensures system logging and safety features are maintained and email notifications are sent. Shorter power blips result in a full system recovery. Extended power cuts result in the system being put in a 'safe mode', which simplifies recovery when power is restored. All systems with and without UPS are protected against pressure build-ups using mechanical pressure relief valves to allow the He3/He4 mixture back into the tank, without any software or manual intervention.

 

Warm up heaters

10 mK to 300 K can be reached in 4 hours. Nominal warm up time with Nitrogen exchange gas in the vacuum chamber is 12-15 hours longer if a magnet is installed. These high power heaters are mounted on four experimental plates together with the necessary protection circuit (thermal switches) and controlled with a Mercury ITC temperature controller. Apart from significantly shortening the warm up time, it also automates the procedure and avoids the use of Nitrogen exchange gas which may condense on the sample.

Based at UK, USA, Germany, China, Japan and India, Oxford Instruments has a dedicated, qualified and experienced service team to support you with everything from installations, preventative maintenance, break fix, to general queries. You also have direct access to technical support from our magnet and cryogenics system engineers in our Oxford factory.

Service when you need it

Your Triton already comes with a full 3-year warranty (Triton Guarantee) covering the full system. For
even greater peace of mind for your planning and convenience, we offer the following service options –

Comprehensive service contract:

On-site preventive maintenance by an OI service engineer, priority access to spare parts from a service stock reserved for comprehensive service contract customers, as well as extended system warranty (if the Triton Guarantee has expired).

Preventative maintenance contract:

On-site preventive maintenance by an OI service engineer. We will service all pumps and compressors, update software/firmware and do a general health check of the system.

Preventative maintenance service kits:

Individual factory-serviced exchange pumps and compressor adsorbers are available to purchase as and when required. These service kits are installed by the customer in accordance with OI provided work instructions.

Extended warranty:

Covers your system beyond the standard 3 years Triton guarantee.
